MovieDescription: A SOUND OF THUNDER Cast: Edward Burns, Ben Kingsley, Catherine McCormack. Directed by Peter Hyams. Based on a Ray Bradbury short story, this film is set in the future where time travel is possible and is used commercially for rich, thrill-seeking patrons. The inventor of the technology that allows for time travel opposes its casual and commercial use as dangerous and fears its misuse will jeopardize the future. The MPAA has rated this film PG-13 for violence, partial nudity and language. The film features many frightening scenes of dinosaurs. Mutant reptile/primate monsters are depicted attacking and killing humans. Other mutant creatures include a large reptilian snake which grabs and attacks victims. Plants ominously take on animalistic traits and attempt to strangle and kill humans. Weapons used in the film include machine guns and handguns and a knife used to attack a monster. One scene depicts a dead man's body submerged in water. Another scene depicts a large amount of bugs swarming people and covering one individual from head to toe. A flock of flying monsters attacks a car. The film includes two brief scenes of sensuality with characters who appear nude but have their genitals covered. One scene alludes to a casual instance of premarital sex between an unmarried couple. Moderate profanity is used in a few scenes in the film.
