MovieDescription: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE Cast: Viggo Mortensen, Mara Bello, Ed Harris, William Hurt, Ashton Holmes. Directed by David Cronenberg. An unassuming man who runs a diner in a small-town community lives a happy life with his wife and two children until he thwarts a robbery in his diner, killing the two perpetrators. The MPAA has rated this movie R for violence, sexuality, nudity, language and drug use. The movie opens with the aftermath of a brutal murder of two motel employees, their bodies lying in pools of blood. More blood smears counters and walls. The murderers go about their work casually and without remorse and they prepare to leave the scene. Throughout the movie at least ten people are murdered by hand-to-hand professional maneuvers, handguns, and shotguns. Some killings are in self-defense. Others are vicious acts of rage. A high school student uses a shotgun to kill the man who is about to murder his father. A husband and wife engage in explicit sexual behavior in two scenes. One includes oral sex and the other includes borderline violent behavior. Another scene shows a woman walking with her bathrobe open, displaying full-frontal nudity. Two teenagers sit on a street corner and share a marijuana joint. A crime boss prepares to kill his brother in order to protect his own crime interests.
