Based on a popular book, a young girl lives on a remote island paradise with her scientist father. He goes out on a brief expedition and she pleads to stay home alone with her animal friends. A storm ravages his boat and their satellite phone system, leaving her scared, alone, and not knowing if her father is dead or alive. She asks for help via email from her favorite adventure novel author. The MPAA has rated this film PG for mild action adventure and language. The language in the film is mild and no profanity was noted. The film contains several scenes of mild adventure including damage from storms, monsoons and a volcano eruption. Fictional characters fight with swords and other characters yield guns but do not use them. A girl saves a woman from drowning. Crude humor includes two brief scenes where the sound of vomiting is depicted.
