Woller. Directed by Steven Spielberg. This futuristic sci-fi adventure lets us imagine a society in which humans stand on the precipice of extinction as artificial intelligence threatens to rule the world. A young robot-boy longs to become a real boy and be reunited with his mother. This quest lasts more than 2,000 years. The MPAA rates this movie PG-13 for some sexual content and violent images. A few instances of strong language, including profanity, occur throughout the movie. A robot-boy opens the door to the bathroom without knocking, where his mother is sitting on the toilet. She shouts a profanity at him. Some of the robots are created to please humans as lovers. One scene includes holograms of scantily clad female robots in seductive postures. One caresses the groin of a potential customer who reacts with pleasure. "Flesh fairs" are a type of entertainment for humans in which robots are captured by frightening police figures and mechanical "hounds, then destroyed by violent, torturous methods. This includes dragging, acid pouring, and being bludgeoned. These scenes are reminiscent of the gladiator fights in the Roman coliseum in which crowds cheer for the death of contestants. In another scene, a woman is shown lying dead in a pool of blood. Issues examined in this movie are: the impact the death of a child has on a family, cryogenics, the search for meaning in existence, and the importance of love.
