Based on two memoirs, Julie and Julia intertwines the lives of the world-renowned Julia Child, who brought French cooking from post-war Europe into American kitchens, and Julia, a frustrated government agency employee who is searching to find her voice as a writer. Although separated by time and space, both women find real meaning in life and a sense of accomplishment through their passion for food. The MPAA has rated this film PG-13 for brief language and sensuality. Strong language including humorous sexual connotation is used by the main characters. Characters smoke cigarettes frequently and socially. One of the main characters skips work and lies about being sick. She is apologetic and remorseful. Sensual scenes occur only between husband and wife, passionately kissing. Sexual intimacy is suggested but not seen by viewers.
