MovieDescription: DAYBREAKERS Cast: Ethan Hawke, Willem Defoe, Sam Neill, Claudia Karvan. Directed by Micheal Spierig and Peter Spierig. In this sci-fi horror film set in the not-too-distant future, a plague turns most of the earths population into vampires. Humans are hunted, harvested and farmed for their blood. Vampires search for a blood substitute and humans search for a cure while each side tries to survive. The MPAA rates the film R for violence, language and nudity. Vampires bite necks and rip apart humans, with fountains of blood spraying the screen. Body parts and entrails are splashed across the scenes. A vampire is given an experimental drug that causes him to first projectile vomit and then explode into a shower of blood and gore. Vampires deprived of blood transform into monstrous bat people that attack humans and vampires alike. Vampires exposed to sunlight or impaled by a stake through the heart burst into flames and explode. A child vampire commits suicide by exposing herself to the sun and burning to ash. Humans being farmed for their blood are shown nude. Womens breasts are fully revealed. Strong language and profanity are used. Tobacco is used throughout the film.
